The qathet MOA Network brings Medical Office Assistants together to learn, share, and support each other.
Why Join Our Network?
The qathet Medical Office Assistant Network is a friendly, open group of MOAs who meet semi-regularly to learn new skills, discuss important topics in the medical field, such as providing culturally safe care in qathet, and support each other in our busy, dynamic roles.
It’s a place to share knowledge, stay informed, and connect with peers. We invite all MOAs at any stage of their family practice journey to attend events and subscribe to our monthly newsletter. Join us to support your career and job satisfaction!
Access to Pathways
As a part of our MOA Network, you will have access to Pathways, a secure online tool that supports your office workflow with the following:
- reliable and up-to-date referral details
- hundreds of patient and clinician resources
- community and health authority services that are categorized and searchable

- April: Session on Pathways & Community Resources with presentations from the local Division leader
- September: 2nd MOA Appreciation Dinner and Bowling at the Alley and Spare Room, including a video presentation from the Practice Support Team on Advanced Access
Help Patients Find a Primary Care Provider
Attaching Patients
Many clinics in qathet receive calls and walk-ins from people seeking a primary care provider.
As an MOA, you play a key role in referring these patients by managing internal waitlists and connecting them with available Family Physicians or Nurse Practitioners.
Recommend the HCR
The best way to support unattached patients is to recommend qathet's Health Connect Registry (HCR).
The HCR is a provincial tool that helps unattached patients find a local Family Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
Details about the HCR:
- It's available to everyone in qathet
- You can register online or by phone
- Patients must provide their Personal Health Number (PHN), B.C. home address, and contact information
- You can register family members or people in your care
- Approximate wait time = less than a year
Nurse Practitioners
MOAs should promote the role of all primary care providers, including Nurse Practitioners (NPs).
NPs can provide advanced nursing care, conduct medical examinations, prescribe medications, and refer patients to specialists.
qathet’s Primary Care Network (PCN) includes a network of NPs accepting new patients through the Health Connect Registry, helping to reduce strain on the health system.
Patients may choose a Nurse Practitioner during registration, which can sometimes result in a shorter wait time.
